Getting Started
Getting started with HopperHawk is easy! Before being shipped, HopperHawk is flashed with the latest available firmware. All you need to do is turn it on, connect to it, and provide your Wi-Fi credentials! For additional information, check out the docs on GitHub!
- Turn on HopperHawk and wait 30-45 seconds
- A new wireless network (SSID: HopperHawk) should appear in your list of nearby networks, connect to it (Password: HopperHawk2024)
- Once connected, open a web browser and visit http://hopperhawk.local (if DNS doesn’t resolve, you can access it at http://192.168.4.2)
- Scroll down and enter your wifi credentials, click Save
- HopperHawk will connect to your wifi and disable the built in hotspot
- Power cycle HopperHawk, and then you’ll be ready to go!
If using Home Assistant…
- Login to Home Assistant (make sure ESPHome is installed)
- HopperHawk should be immediately visible in Settings -> Devices & services
- If you do not see the device in the Discovered section, click on the ESPHome tile - you should see HopperHawk appear as a configurable device
- Once HopperHawk appears as a discoverable device, click Configure and add it
If not using Home Assistant…
- Open a web browser and navigate to http://hopperhawk.local to view the web interface, if that doesn’t work, you will want to go onto your router to see what IP address was assigned. As with anything tech related, if for some reason it doesn’t connect try power cycling!
