What is HopperHawk?

HopperHawk is a custom sensor powered by ESPHome designed to sit inside the hopper of your pellet smoker. It will measure the pellets left in your hopper so you always know how much fuel is left

How does it work?

By using a Time-of-Flight sensor, HopperHawk can get pretty accurate readings of how full your hopper is. Once you configure it (two simple clicks) to know the dimensions of your smoker's hopper, it will take periodic measurements and report back to Home Assistant

Why do you need it?

HopperHawk aims to remove one more variable from the smoking process! For those overnight cooks or extra long sessions, you'll always know how much fuel is left in the hopper. Integrating with Home Assistant also allows you to create custom alerts/notifications and dashboards making it even easier to use

What does it look like?

HopperHawk is completely custom designed. The board and case are just big enough (4"x3"x1.25") to support the sensor and an 18650 Lithium-Ion battery while being small enough to fit inside the your hopper. You can either place it directly on the grid, or use magnets to attach it to the lid
